Unite Against Antisemitism
City of Melbourne Council & JCCV
For my Capstone Communication Design project, I aimed to execute a campaign that reflects my values as a designer, focusing on creating ‘good design’ that positively impacts society. In light of the alarming 738% spike in antisemitic attacks in Australia since October 7th, I felt compelled to address this issue through my work.
The campaign, titled ‘Unite Against Antisemitism,’ aligns with the values of the Melbourne City Council by encouraging Melbournians to come together and combat the rising threat of antisemitism. This initiative respectfully incorporates my own cultural perspectives to enhance its impact. The target audience for this campaign is Gen Z and millennials who primarily use social media to consume news. This demographic may not be fully informed about the issue and its impact on the community.
The visual identity of the campaign is designed to resonate with the younger audience. The logo features two hands merging as one through the use of negative space, symbolizing support and unity. The dynamic yet subtle incorporation of the Star of David emphasizes the connection to the Jewish community. The bold and trendy colour palette of royal blue and fluorescent yellow is intended to attract and engage younger individuals, encouraging them to understand the issue and take action within their community.
To further this goal, digital applications such as an Instagram page and a website have been developed alongside posters, billboards and merchandise. These platforms and assets are designed to educate, raise awareness, and inspire action, ensuring that the message of 'Never Again' is understood and upheld. Through these efforts, the campaign strives to make a meaningful and lasting impact in the fight against antisemitism.
