Annual Report
State Library of Victoria

In this project, the responsibility was to propose and design an annual report for the State Library of Victoria—a project that demanded functionality, innovation and engagement, authentically reflecting the institution's core values and its evolution in the face of technological advancements. At its core, the design had to embody the Library's overarching vision: to evolve into 'a library for all in a changing world'.

The challenge was to infuse the report with a bold, fresh, and professional aesthetic while maintaining flexibility to accommodate the diverse content within a cohesive symmetric grid structure.

Drawing inspiration from the Library's rich heritage, I chose to anchor the design concept in its illustrious history. This led to the adoption of a royal, purple colour palette, evoking a sense of grandeur and individuality with textured pages reminiscent of antique manuscripts.

In parallel, I aimed to convey the Library's commitment to progress and innovation. To achieve this, I embraced a contemporary approach, employing a sleek sans-serif typeface and immersive imagery. These elements served to captivate the reader, drawing them into the narrative of the Library's dynamic past and present, fostering a deeper connection with its ethos and environment.
